Despite what some self-interested parties might claim, Professor Arnold Wilkins (University of Essex) is the world leader in scientific research into Visual Processing Disorder/Visual Stress. He spent years studying photosensitive epilepsy, including treatment techniques, and developed a number of ground-breaking innovations including:
- a clinical test of vision;
- the first controlled trial around the health challenges with fluorescent lighting; and
- the invention of the first scientifically designed ophthalmic tinting system (to produce coloured glass lenses).
In 1995, he released his unified theory of Visual Stress, and today, his research interests include:
- the neuropsychology of vision, reading and colour;
- photosensitive epilepsy;
- migraine;
- typography;
- human memory; and
- attention.
